Pachypodium baronii flowers nine days later. Pachypodiums are a member of the family apocynaceae and are considered a caudiciform, a fat plant, because they have developed a fat water retaining base, trunk, or root for storing water during severely dry conditions. Many varieties come from the island of Madagascar.
